OPEN TO PROFESSIONALS AND STUDENTS
Enhance your design portfolio with a unique public landscape project. We will fully fund installation of your winning native landscape design for the Bradenton Area Convention Center entryway. There are substantial possibilities for various media and community attention to this project as we partner with Manatee County and Florida Association of Native Nurseries (FANN).

SUBMITTALS
Apply online anytime. You will receive email with link to upload your design submittal. Submit by deadline. Download and review closely all site information linked above.

Your submittal must include all of the following elements:

  • Designer name and organization
  • Plan - use downloaded site plan
  • Use a 10 scale (one inch = 10 feet) on your plan, include the graphic scale and north arrow
  • Plant list with plant abbreviation code for each plant and quantities. All plants on plan should be labelled with the corresponding abbreviation codes.
  • Properly spelled botanical/common names.
  • Create the design based on the expected size of plants at maturity. Specify container sizes and spacing for installation.

RESTRICTIONS / GUIDELINES

  • Designs must consist of 100% Florida native plants
  • Preserve existing native plants that are in good condition, as appropriate
  • Limit use of hardscape
  • Specify only sustainable mulches and materials. No cypress mulch permitted.

IMPORTANT: Winners will be featured on large-scale displays and in print publications. To make your work look good in print, we need high resolution files. Please prepare accordingly. All submitted designs become the property of the foundation and for use in future educational activities. The foundation will not sell or otherwise license the designs without designer approval.

AWARDS
One winning award will be selected for installation at the subject facility. Two runners up will also be announced and publicized.

The winning landscape design will be installed with signage and unveiled to the public at a formal ceremony in mid October. Designer names will be included on signage. Awardees and their designs will be promoted online via the Native Plant Horticulture Foundation’s website and social media, and press releases sent to winner’s local media outlets.

Additional promotional support will be provided by Manatee County and program sponsor FANN (Florida Association of Native Nurseries). FANN will provide awardee with complimentary membership and a feature in the next issue of the FANN Native Plant & Service Directory distributed throughout the Southeastern U.S. The winning landscape will be highlighted as part of FANN's Native Plant Show Oct. 18-19 at the convention center.

Please consult FloridaNativeNurseries.org and the Native Plant & Service Directory as guides to available native species and appropriate sizes. Get helpful, accurate information on plant size and suitability from growers.

FEE
$40 for professionals
$15 for students
Fee is paid online with design submission.
